Tomas Walmsley - Filmmaker - Musician

Film, music and art are where my passions lie. It’s been that way for years and every creative project that’s ever passed through my hands is a blend of those three ingredients. At first, it was gig posters for my band, then EP artwork and music videos. Then I moved onto doing the same for friends’ bands. Now, I’m constantly collaborating with other creatives on all sorts of different projects – furthering our practice and creating an energetic scene powered by fresh work.

As well as being a filmmaker at Wash Films, I’m a musician in two Manchester-based rock n roll outfits – Fruit Tones and Mister Strange. I’ve also produced a DIY magazine focused on the local scene, called GULP, and I create gig posters and album artwork under the name Happy Creeps. All of that I’ve done by immersing myself in the scene around me, and by preferring a heavy work load to a good night’s sleep.

Being a musician, artist and young dude in gritty Manchester gives me the ambition and inspiration to work on the abstract, forward-thinking side of filmmaking: it’s a place that makes me want to combine my artistic passions to provoke a reaction and stimulate debate.

Wash is a solid group of creative people, but it’s not a huge team. Instead, we’re surrounded by a fine array of filmmakers, creatives, geeks, innovators and weirdos. It’s a crazy community that allows our film department to collate the right team for each project – creating beautiful and well-crafted pieces of work. So get it touch. tomas@washstudio.co.uk

Fruit Tones - Cross Pollination (Official Video)

Project
Music video for the bands track 'Cross Pollination', off their debut album Natural Selection, out on Greenway Records & Fuzzkill Records. Hailing from Manchester, Fruit Tones are the real deal without any artificial sweetener. We're talking one steam-rolling-mondo-garage thud here, folks! Stomping drums, menacing guitars and vocals that bite, it's all here on their debut LP! The sass of the Dolls, the fizz of Four Loco and the looseness of the Stones, juiced into 14 tracks knocked out in just over 30 minutes.

Overview
A family holiday movie concept filmed whilst on tour during summer in Europe. Capturing the real day to day action with an old Sony Camcorder. Including the classic family waving from the band members.
